Weaker sections housing: TDP challenges Rosaiah
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party on Tuesday challenged Finance Minister, K. Rosaiah to show the areas and number of houses built for weaker sections during former Chief Minister, Kasu Brahmananda Reddy’s tenure.
In a statement, TDP Polit Bureau members, Y. Ramakrishnudu and E. Dayakar Rao said, that it was not their party but Mr. Rosaiah who was distorting facts and urged him to refer to official records to check which Government had built more pucca houses and won awards.
Improvised huts
They recalled that during the 28-year rule of the Congress, till N. T. Rama Rao became Chief Minister in 1983, only 51,565 houses were built for weaker sections. In fact, these cannot be called as houses as they were improvised huts and built far away from the villages.
