Abishek storms into semifinals

CHENNAI: R. Abishek of Loyola bt Senthil Kumar of St. Joseph’s Engineering College 11-9, 11-8, 11-2, 11-13, 16-14 in the table tennis quarterfinals in the Bertram Memorial tournament at the Loyola College here on Tuesday.

Lokesh-Udayaraj duo in final

Lokesh and Udayaraj (PS) edged out Nirmalvel and Rajkumar (TNCA) 3-2 in the doubles snooker semifinals of the MUC non-medallist tournament here.

SRM posts win

SRM defeated SDAT 25-19, 25-23 in the State-level Vollys Club tournament on Monday. In the other match, SDAT beat TNEB 25-7, 25-17.

I.V.J. Pradeep, Head-Operations (Aircel), inaugurated the tournament in the presence of H. Vasanth Kumar, president, Vollys Club.
KDCA selection trials

The KDCA is organising trials on August 26 (7.30 a.m.) at the Guru Nanak College to select women cricketers who will attend the trials for picking the Combined Districts team. Active women cricketers can attend the trials bringing with them bonafide age certificate (signed by the Head of educational institution) and kit. The CBSE Cluster V kho-kho tournament (boys’ and girls’ under-19) will take place at Puzhal from August 23 to 25.
