Manmohan concerned over Assam violence
New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday expressed concern over the violence in Assam and said the victims should rebuild their lives by engaging in productive activities.
Presenting the 15th Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavna award to social activitist Hem Dutta from Assam, Singh, who is an MP from the State said, “the trend of extremism in other parts of the country is a result of efforts of people who wish to divide.”
In Assam, victims should rebuild their lives by engaging in productive activities, he said. Congress President Sonia Gandhi said the award was given to people who have done something special for the people. — PTI
