Car crash kills sub-inspector Crime notes

BANGALORE: A police sub-inspector was killed on the spot after the car in which he was travelling rammed a median on the National Highway 4 in Nelamangala police station limits in Bangalore Rural district on Monday night.

The police said Jayanna (35), sub-inspector of the Town police station in Tumkur, was on his way to Bangalore attend a court hearing on Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 11.30 p.m. near the Pepsi factory on the outskirts of the city, the police said. The Nelamangala police have registered a case.

Phones recovered

The Chickpet police have arrested two persons -- Deepak Singh (22) and Vinod Singh (42) -- from Uttar Pradesh on charges of burglary and recovered from them 51 mobile phones, together worth Rs. 5 lakh.

Vehicles recovered

The Ulsoor police have arrested Khaleel alias Javed (22) of Haleguddadahalli on charges of vehicle theft and recovered five two-wheelers.
