Madhya Pradesh first State to start forest IT training centre

To be connected to national parks, educational institutes


Centre will provide regular video-conferencing facility


Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh has become the first State to start a forest information technology training centre which is to be connected to national parks and educational institutes through Edusat.

Distance learning

The technology training centre has been started here to provide advanced training to employees of national parks and information to students through distance learning, forest department sources said on Wednesday.

A satellite interactive terminal is being installed at the centre so as to monitor and telecast educational programmes through Edusat, they said, adding senior forest officials were recently informed about the plans during a meeting here.

Advanced computers with LCD monitors and plasma TV has been arranged for the centre which has been provided “without wire internet connectivity”.

Training

The centre has started holding training programmes for forest employees on regular basis and also offers free training to their children, forest officials said.

Besides imparting education, the centre will provide regular video-conferencing facility to officials to monitor activities of the Forest Department across the State, they said, adding advances in information technology will be utilised to exchange information within the department.

Mobile network

Madhya Pradesh has become the first state to establish an advanced information system on mobile network.

Forest officials have been provided with personal digital assistants (PDAs), sources said. - PTI
