Shimla: Toy train services along the Kalka-Shimla track resumed on Wednesday after damages caused to tracks, due to cloudburst that hit the State on August 12, were almost repaired. The train services has been restored at a stretch of 60 km out of the 96 km-distance between Shimla and Dharampur with three trips up and down daily, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM)- Ambala - H K Jaggi told PTI. Repair works are progressing at Koti where the track was badly damaged due to cave-in of earth in about a stretch of 200 metre on August 12 leaving the track hanging, he said adding the track at this section will be restored within one week if the weather remains favourable. Mr. Jaggi said the railway incurred a loss of Rs one lakh daily because of the suspension since August 13 due to damage to tracks at over 40 locations. Superintendent of Shimla railway station B. S. Gill said the response of passengers was poor. “Many people are still not aware that train services between Shimla and Dharampur have been restored, hence low response of passengers was witnessed ,” he said.
