Into a new fold: Collector T.N. Venkatesh speaking at the launch of Karur zone of the Confederation of Indian Industry on Wednesday.
KARUR: The industrialised Karur, with its varied and thriving business and commercial units, received due recognition from the captains of the Indian industry when the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) launched its new Karur Zone. Launching the new CII Karur Zone here on Wednesday in the presence of distinguished industrialists, Collector T.N. Venkatesh said that time was ripe and opportune for the local industrialists to have the advantages of being under the CII fold. The rich and varied industrial base in the district would add variety to the confederation while the latter would lend its support in industrial policy formulations to the member units, he said. The Chairman CII National Committee on Membership, N. Kumar, revealed that the confederation was planning to carve out a new zone at Tuticorin and was also looking at the possibility of taking the growth outside Chennai as well. President of the Karur Textile Manufacturer Exporters’ Association V. Kumar sought the expert advice and assistance from the confederation in steering the textile exporters through the maze of archaic Government regulations in specific areas. Chairman CII Tamil Nadu State Council Gopal Srinivasan, former Chairman of the Handloom Export Promotion Council M. Sivakkannan and Co-Chairman of Karur Zone A. Annamalai were among those who spoke.
