Protest against police directive on speaker use

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Mild tension prevailed when some people staged a demonstration raising objection over the directions of the police to use only box type of speakers at a mosque near Fortune Katriya hotel in Punjagutta on Wednesday night.

Complaint

Some residents of the locality approached the Punjagutta police complaining that the loud speakers being used at the mosque were of high decibels and causing disturbance to them.

On inspection, the police found that the mikes were of banned type and instructed the persons concerned to install box type of speakers so that others were not disturbed.

Road blocked

Raising objection over the police directions, a section of people gathered in large numbers and blocked the road bringing traffic movement to a grinding halt on the Somajiguda-Raj Bhavan-Begumpet stretch. The agitation was called off after the police promised to find an amicable solution to the problem.
