Student hangs herself

TIRUCHI: A plus two girl student, Hemalatha, studying in an aided school at Purathakudi reportedly committed suicide in the hostel on Wednesday by hanging from a ceiling fan due to humiliation over the school’s direction to her father, Pitchai, to seek a transfer certificate.

Pitchai, was summoned to the school to take the transfer certificate of his daughter, whose attitude the authorities reportedly disapproved. After proceeding to the hostel, purportedly to take her belongings, Hemalatha hanged herself.

The Samayapuram police have registered a case.
