Elephants trample four tribals to death

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: Four tribals were trampled to death when wild elephants stormed their hut in a remote hamlet, about 18 kilometres from Gummalakshmipuram on Orissa-Andhra border in Vizianagaram district on Tuesday night. The deceased were identified as Toika Parisi, 50, Biddaka Sampu, 45, Toika Dramadamma, 45 and Toika Dharma Rao, 12.

Conservator of Forests P.V. Padmanabham said that nine adult and two baby elephants were going to the forest and the hut happened to come in their way. “It was not a case of an attack by wild elephants,” he said.
