Night shopping facility opened

Mayor inaugurates facility on M.G. Road

KOCHI: The night shopping facility in Kochi city, being coordinated by the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, got off to a start with Mayor Mercy Williams opening the facility at M.G. Road on Wednesday night.

District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish released the logo, while cine actor Kunjacko Boban inaugurated the cultural programmes being organised to make the night shopping an enjoyable experience.

Director General of the Sharjah-based Hamriyah Free Zone Authority Rashid Al Leem and president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry E.S. Jose were also present.

The facility being initiated on an experimental basis in view of the Onam season will last till August 30. During the period, shops, mainly at M.G. Road, Broadway and Marine Drive, will remain open from 8 p.m. till midnight. If found successful, it would be made a permanent feature from November 1.
