‘No facilities’

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: There is no institute of higher learning for the hearing impaired in the State, which means that they cannot apply for government posts, said C.N. Vijayaraj, president of the Deaf Association, at a press conference on Thursday.

Urging the State Government to set up a pre-university education college soon, Mr. Vijayaraj said that 60 students pass the SSLC examination every year but they have no institute to pursue higher studies.

Government posts reserved therefore are filled by other categories of disabled persons from different States. Approaching Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has also not helped, he added.
