Ten-wicket haul by Srinivas

HYDERABAD: A ten-wicket match haul by left-arm spinner Ranji star G.Srinivas (10 for 94) helped Syndicate Bank defeat P&T Colony by 93 runs and notch up it’s fourth outright victory in the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship match here on Thursday.

Gemini Friends 153 drew with Gujarati 231 for six (Tejo Ganesh 86).

R. Dayanand XI 432 for eight (A. Ashish Reddy 102, V. Vamshi Ram 113 not out, Rahul Ranout 67, Eshwar Prasad 45, Sharath Kumar 44) bt SA Sports, Amberpet, 108 (Rahul Ranout five for 12, Sai Venkatesh four for 48) & 161 (D.R.C. Kiran 47, Rahul Ranout four for 51).

Independent Club wins

Independent Hockey Club defeated Cosmopolitan Club 5-3 in the Junior State hockey championship at Gymkhana Grounds here.

J. Sainath, B. Ravi, B. Srikanth and G. Srinivas scored for the winners while M. Rajesh Babu and Pratap Yadav reduced the margin for the losers.

Hyderabad Public School (Ramanthapur) scored a 15-9, 15-8 win over Sacred Heart School in the senior boys’ volleyball league match of the Kargil sports meet organised by Hyderabad YMCA here.

EME rallied well to hold Shastri Soccer Club to a two-all draw in the SAAP Premier League prize money football tournament at Gymkhana Grounds here.<EP>Shastri 2-1 at half-time through Amulraj and Sashank while Dharvani scored for the EME. In the second session, Abud Bin Syed struck the crucial equaliser in the dying minutes to ensure the match ended in a draw.<EP>

Indian carrom camp

Hyderabad Carrom Association will host the Indian coaching camp here from August 24 for the forthcoming 11th SAARC championship in Nagpur (September 1 to 3) and for the second Asian championship in Raipur (September 5 to 7).

Inter-club tennis

Dr. V. Ramdas Memorial AP State seniors inter-club tennis tournament will be organised by AP Senior Tennis Players Association, from September 12 to 16 at Asif Club and Hyderabad Boat Club.

Competitions will be held in the age groups of 45, 55 and 65 years. Two teams in each group are allowed from each club. Entries should be sent to A. Rambabu, organising secretary, by September 10. Further details can be had from the Association Office at Somajiguda.

Handball selections

Sports Authority of India will organise selection trials in handball (boys only) at Saroornagar Indoor Stadium on August 27 and 28 in the age group of 14 to 18 years. The candidates should report at the venue with original date of birth, sports achievements certificates and three passport size photographs. For details contact K.
