Badminton championship from tomorrow

BANGALORE: Canara Bank will conduct the ninth all-India inter-institutional badminton championship under the aegis of Banks Sports Board at the Karnataka Badminton Association Stadium here from August 25 to 29.

Briefing the media here on Thursday, N.S. Srinath, General Manager (Personnel), Canara Bank, said that seven teams, including Banks Sports Board, Electricity Sports Board, LIC, Defence Accounts, besides the defending champion BSNL will participate in both the men’s and women’s team events. Open events will follow the team championship which ends on August 6.

B.N. Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of Canara Bank will inaugurate the championship at 9.30 a.m. on Saturday while Prakash Padukone and swimmer Nisha Millet will be the chief guests. — Special Correspondent
