KOCHI: The Fee Regulatory Committee, headed by the former judge P.A. Mohammed, will file a review petition against the decision of a Division Bench of the Kerala High Court to quash the committee’s powers to fix the fee for MBBS courses in the self-financing colleges for the new academic year. The Bench of Justice K.S. Radhakrishanan and Justice V.K. Mohanan had earlier quashed the order while allowing a writ petition filed by the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church-run medical college at Kolencherry. A sitting of the committee held here on Thursday observed that the Division Bench had not taken into account the Supreme Court verdict that the committee has the power to probe whether there was an element of profiteering in the fee structure proposed by managements. The committee will seek details regarding the fee structure proposed by the medical college run by the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. It said the college authorities had failed to submit adequate records to supplement the fee structure presented before the committee.
