Smooth, silky cotton from Andhra

WEAVES OF ANDHRA: A cotton exhibition by Dastkar Andhra is on at C.P. Art Centre in Alwarpet.

CHENNAI: Earthy Ikkat hues in rough fabric or smooth and silky cottons in glowing colours, they are all stacked and draped around at C. P. Art Centre in Alwarpet. The exhibition and sale of the handloom goods of Andhra Pradesh are organised by the Dastkar Andhra Marketing Association (DAMA). The handloom fabrics, duppattas and saris, including natural dyed fabrics in khadi and kalamkari prints will be on for sale till August 27 from 10.30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A. Suresh, in charge of marketing of DAMA, said that the exhibition was exclusively from the Dastkar weavers of East and West Godavari, Gunturu, Srikakulam, Nalgonda. Ikkat fabrics, saris, curtains and bedspreads are also available.
