Biotechnology, Computer Science, Civil Engineering departments have won the awards “Network Gaming for Mobile” facilitates chatting and playing chess
Udupi: The N.M.A.M. Institute of Technology, Nitte, bagged the ‘Best College Award for Projects’ for 2006-07 from the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) in the recent State-level seminar-cum-exhibition of student projects. The event was hosted by KLES College of Engineering and Technology, Belgaum, according to a press release from the N.M.A.M. Institute here on Thursday. Coordinator of the projects at the institute Radhakrishnana along with the team received the award from Vice-Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, H.P. Khincha. KSCST secretary M.K. Surappa was present on the occasion. This is the second time that the college is receiving this prestigious award from KSCST. All the three KSCST-sponsored projects presented by the institute from the departments of Biotechnology, Computer Science and Civil Engineering received the ‘Best Project of the Year’ awards. “Network Gaming for Mobile”, a computer science project by Padmaraj, Poojith and Pranav under the guidance of Manjunath Kotari bagged the Best Project of the Year Award along with cash prizes. The “Network Gaming for Mobile” facilitates chatting and playing chess using Blue Tooth applications. “Water Pollution Monitoring Using Weakly Electrical Fish” by biotechnology students Shiva Prasad Nayak, Gurukiran Samaga, N. Ravikiran Bhatt and Sandeep Mohan Bhandarkar under the guidance of N. Vidyavathi bagged another Best Project of the Year Award. The project demonstrates the use of sensitive fish to monitor water pollution. “Identification, Delineation and Mapping of Micro-watersheds and Rehabilitation Studies on Traditional Rainwater Harvesting Structures in the Mulki River Basin” by civil engineering students Shreyas, K.V. Sirisha, Pankil Desai, Aditya Shenoy and Shashank won the commendation certificate .
