HYDERABAD: The State Government has enhanced the price at which the utilities purchase power from wind-based projects to Rs 3.10 per unit from Rs 2.70, thus meeting a long-pending, major demand from the developers of these projects.
The decision to hike the price was taken by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy at a meeting held here to review this issue and the performance of AP Genco.
Energy Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir later told The Hindu later that only 5 MW of installed capacity could be created in the windmill sector in the last three years due to the price hitch.
At present, wind mills accounted for a 107 MW of capacity.
