Elephant calf electrocuted

CHAMARAJANAGAR: An elephant calf died of electrocution in the backwaters of the Suvarnavathi Reservoir in Chamarajanagar taluk on Friday. It is said that the carcass was noticed near the farmland that belongs to Manikyam of Suvarnavathi. The female calf died when it stepped onto a live wire connected to an illegal fencing put up to protect sugarcane and banana crops. Deputy Conservator of Forests Raju and staff visited the spot. — Correspondent
