Eleven killed in road accident

Tehri (Uttarakhand): At least 11 persons were killed and seven others injured when the bus carrying them plunged into a 300-metre gorge in Totaghati area of this district on Friday.

The bus with 18 passengers was on its way from Haridwar to Joshimath in Chamoli district when the driver lost control of the bus on a sharp turn and it careened down the hillside, officials said.

All the 11 passengers died on the spot and senior police and administrative officials had reached the accident site to supervise the rescue work

Uttarakhand Governor Sudershan Agarwal and Chief Minister B. C. Khanduri have expressed grief over the mishap.—PTI
