NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed a petition by underworld don Babloo Srivastava alleging misuse of his extradition stating that the trial of cases for which he was deported to India from Singapore were delayed because of simultaneous trial of other cases against him registered prior to his extradition.
He had also sought damages of Rs. 100 crore as compensation for violation of his rights as he had to spend his precious youthful years in jail due to delay in the trial of the cases for which he was extradited to India. He also urged the Court to issue a direction that his extradition not be misused further.
Dismissing the petition, Justice S.N. Dhingra said: “The petitioner’s prayer for a relief that there should be no further violation of the extradition warrant and no further trial of any case should take place is a speculative relief.”
