HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has asked the CPI (M) to play a constructive role in State politics instead of resorting to unwarranted agitations.
Referring to the land struggles of the Left, M. Kodanda Reddy, chairman of APCC’s Kisan and Khet Mazdoor Cell, said the Congress Government had appointed Koneru Ranga Rao Committee to study land reforms and had accepted almost all its recommendations. It had also launched a massive Housing programme to provide shelter to all the houseless in the State by 2009.
The criticism that Congress leaders were against the implementation of the Committee recommendations was baseless, he said. Asking the CPI (M) to explain the source of the palatial mansions of some Left leaders in the State their huge investments in businesses, he asked whether it was not true that many Left leaders were in possession of illegal lands.
The CPI (M) was applying double standards in every issue, they said.
