HYDERABAD: The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India has appealed to the State Principal Chief Conservator of Forests to enquire and prosecute officials for the death of five deer due to suffocation at Kinnerasani Deer Park in Khammam district.
PETA campaign coordinator Sachin Bangera said it was unfortunate that animals protected under the Wildlife Protection Act were killed during translocation, due negligence of the staffers.
It wanted the top forest official to issue a circular listing the procedure to capture and release deer and to avoid recurrence of such tragedy in future.
Birth control measures
There was also a need for keeping proper management in place at the deer park to run it in accordance with the Central Zoo Authority guidelines and to take up immediate birth control measures to prevent prolific breeding.
