Two meet records set

KOLKATA: Two meet records were established on the penultimate date of the 48th all-India inter-Railways aquatics meet here on Friday. Eastern’s Akbar Ali Mir rewrote the 800m freestyle record by clocking 09:02.99s and Aditya Samgvekar of Western obliterated the 200m butterfly mark by timing 02:09.31s.

The results: 200m freestyle: 1. A.A. Mir (ER) 02:00.78s, 2. K. Mani (SWR), 3. M. Abhilash Kumar (SR). 800m freestyle: 1. A.A. Mir 09:02.99s (MR), 2. A. Samgvekar (WR), 3. M. Abhilash Kumar. 50m backstro ke: 1. Dipesh Bairagi (ER) 29.23s, 2. C. Abhilash (SR), 3. Sumanta Nath (SER). 200m butterfly: 1. A. Samgvekar (WR) 02:09.31s (MR), 2. Sreejith K.C. (SR), Suman Dutta (SER). 4x100 freestyle relay: 1. Southern 03 :47.17s, 2. Western, 3. Eastern.

High board diving: T. Gitaye (WR) 275.95 points, 2. K.V. Shinde (WR), 3. Basudeb Giri (ER). Waterpolo semifinals: Eastern bt South Eastern 8-3; Western bt Central 9-6.
