Temporary airstrip to be set up at Harpanahalli

‘Create brochures highlighting achievements’

DAVANGERE: Preparations are on for the village stay of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy at Yedihalli in Harpanahalli taluk on September 1.

Chief Executive Officer of the Davangere Zilla Panchayat Nijalingappa, who is in-charge Deputy Commissioner of the district, presiding over a special meeting organised to make arrangements for the Chief Minister’s programme here on Saturday, instructed officials to construct a thoroughfare from Harpanahalli to Yedihalli and maintain hygiene in the village.

He also directed them to ensure that the village gets proper drinking water and drainage facilities.

He directed all departments to select at least five beneficiaries under different welfare schemes and prepare their certificates of eligibility.

Mr. Nijalingappa directed officials of the Health Department to visit the village on Monday. He also directed Veterinary Department officials to visit the village and conduct a health camp for animals.

‘Temporary estimates’

He told officials of the Public Works Department to construct a temporary airstrip at Harpanahalli town for the Chief Minister’s arrival, and asked them to prepare estimates in this regard. This comes in the wake of reported instructions from Home Minister M.P. Prakash to the Chief Executive Officer to send a proposal for building a permanent airstrip at Harpanahalli town.

Mr. Nijalingappa instructed BESCOM officials to restore power supply to all houses in the village irrespective of whether house owners had paid their bills or not.

Mr. Nijalingappa also asked them to provide power connections to all houses in the village under the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme.
