Chitradurga: India has over one crore visually challenged people, while the global figure is over six crore. On an average, about 90 lakh people die every year in the country. Even if the quarter of this number pledges to donate their eyes, blindness can be eradicated to a large extent, S. Mirulidhar, Principal of Basaveshwar Medical College, ha said. He was speaking at the inauguration of a blindness eradication programme at Basaveshwar Hospital here on Saturday. Murugha Math seer Murugharajendra Swami said everyone should pledge to donate their eyes. Over 45 people pledged to donate their eyes.
