Krishnagiri: The District council meeting of the Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam (TNVS) has urged the State Government not to take over farmland for establishment of the proposed Special Economic Zone (SEZ) near Hosur. Instead of taking over agricultural land, the Government could acquire dry lands for setting up the special economic zone.
They asked the Government to provide adequate compensation to the landowners while acquiring land. It should also ensure employment opportunities to the educated members of the families. The meeting also wanted the Government to issue fresh crop loans through the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks (PACBs) to farmers in the district.
It should also streamline the supply of fertilizers, pesticides and agricultural implements to farmers. The Government should distribute house site pattas on a war footing to those who were living on ‘poremboke’ lands for the past 10 years.
House site pattas should be issued to all eligible farmers in Hosur and Denkanikottai taluks, exempting the Government order issued by the then DMK Government in 1989.
The Government had declared farmlands on the fringes of forests as forestlands earlier. Pattas should be issued for these lands. The Government should provide two acres of free land to all eligible farmers in the district.
