KPCC chief seeks Ministers’ ouster

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday challenged Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan to keep his promise of removing corrupt members of his Council of Ministers within 24 hours.

He sought the resignation of Public Works Minister T.U. Kuruvilla and Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy.

Briefing presspersons here, Mr. Chennithala said the Chief Minister was given to shifting positions on issues with regular frequency.

While Mr. Kuruvilla’s resignation was being sought for his alleged involvement in an illegal land deal in Munnar, the KPCC was demanding the removal of Ms. Sreemathy for her reported role in the Kiliroor rape case.

According to Mr. Chennithala, the Chief Minister was protecting both.
