Phagwara: The Railway Ministry is considering a Rs. 532-crore proposal for plying a train between the Sikh pilgrimage centres of Amritsar and Anandpur. “If all goes well, a meeting on the project is likely to be held in New Delhi on September 6,” Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal told reporters here. He said he had taken up the matter, for laying a 45-km rail track from Jejon (Nawanshahr) via Garhshanker to Anandpur Sahib, with Railway Minister Lalu Prasad. Atwal earlier held a meeting with officials to monitor the work on the local Satnampura railway flyover and the GT road Mehtan bridge. – PTI
