BANGALORE: Defending champion Bharath Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) entered both the men’s and women’s team events’ finals in the IX all-India inter-institutional badminton championship here on Saturday. In the men’s semifinals, BSNL defeated LIC 3-1 to set up a title clash with Banks Sports Board which defeated CAG 3-1. In the women’s section, BSNL which got a walk over from Defence Academy Sports Control Board will meet LIC in the final. LIC defeated BSB 2-0. The results (semifinals): Men’s team: BSNL bt LIC 3-1 (K. Tanishk bt Jaison Xavier (conceded); Sudeep Bhattacharya lost to Naga Vinayak 19-21, 17-21; Tanishk and Abhijit Dutta bt Jaison Xavier and N. Vinayak 22-20, 22-20; Sarbojit Bhowmick bt Soumen Bhatt acharjee 16-21, 21-13, 21-11). Banks’ Sports Board bt Comptroller of Audit General 3-1 (Abhijeet Naimpally bt Jerry Martin 21-17, 21-17; D. Guruprasad lost to Ranveer Singh 21-17, 19-21 (conceded); Guruprasad and Vineet Manel bt Anish and Amit Sachdev 21-14, 21-18; Vineet Manuel bt S.S. Kannan 16-21, 21-14, 22-20).
