Chennai: Kerala beat Vidarbha by an innings and eight runs in Zone ‘C’ on the second day of the third round of the Buchi-Babu all-India invitation cricket tournament, at the RKM-Viveka ground here on Saturday. Vidarbha’s second innings ended after the fall of the ninth wicket as Sumit Ruikar did not come to bat. Kerala finished its league phase with eight points. In a Zone ‘A’ encounter, off-spinner R. Ashwin’s picked up six for 69 to help TNCA XI restrict KSCA XI to 171 in the second innings. Chasing just 71 for victory, TNCA registered a six-wicket win to finish with 8 points. AIS XI maintained its winning record in the league phase, beating Rajasthan by 33 runs and finishing with 24 points. Brendan Drew was the architect of the win, scalping five wickets for 32 runs. The scores: Zone A: Assam 222 vs. Mumbai 315 for seven in 87 overs (Shahil Kukreja 92, Vinayak Mane 98, Prashant Naik 50 batting). KSCA XI 115 & 171 in 38 overs (Sudhindra Shinde 55, R. Gopinath 52) & 73 for four in 20.4 overs Zone B: Gujarat 283 for seven & 189 for seven in 45 overs (Hem Joshipura 64, Timil Patel 71 not out, Kamal Das five for 54) vs. Tripura 157 in 41.4 overs (Nirupam Sen Chowdhary 62 not out, Anupam Patel four for 27) Baroda 209 vs. Madhya Pradesh 185 for nine in 87 overs (Rahul Baxshi 48). Zone C: Combined Districts 316 for six & nine for two in 2 overs vs. Hyderabad 218 in 85.5 overs (Anoop Pai 49). Vidarbha 114 for nine decl. & 158 for nine in 33.5 overs (Sony Cheruvathur four for 36) lost to Kerala 280 in 86.2 overs (Sambasiva Sharma 60, Sebastian Antony 63, K.J.
