NEW DELHI: The seasoned Artur Jussupow proved just too much for Parimarjan Negi even as Rising Stars enlarged its lead over Experience after the third round of the NH chess tournament in Amsterdam on Friday. In spite of Negi’s loss with black against the 1991 World championship semifinalist, Rising Stars cruised to a 3-2 victory with Dutchmen Daniel Stellwagen and Jan Smeets scoring important victories. In fact, Smeets’ 97-move victory over Ljubomir Ljubojevic was his second of the event while Stellwagen overpowered Alexander Beliavsky.
The results (third round): Rising Stars (8.5) bt Experience (6.5) 3-2 (Alexander Beliavsky lost to Daniel Stellwagen; Predrag Nikolic drew with Ivan Cheparinov; Alexander Khalifmann drew with Sergey Karjakin; Artur Jussupow bt Parimarj an Negi; Ljubomir Ljubojevic lost to Jan Smeets).
