relief: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Shibu Soren speaks to media after his release from the Dumka Central Jail in Jharkhand on Saturday.
Dumka (Jharkhand): Nine months after being in prison following his conviction in the case of murder of his private secretary, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren on Saturday walked free from the Dumka Central Jail after his acquittal.
Mr. Soren’s release was delayed by two days following a technical error.
The Tihar jail had sent a custody order instead of the release order, his counsel B.N. Manjhi said.
On August 22, the Delhi High Court acquitted the former Union Minister and four others in the 1994 Sashinath Jha murder case.
The former Coal Minister, who was serving a life term since November 28, was brought here from the Tihar jail in January after a Jamtara court issued a production warrant, asking him to appear before it in the Chirudih massacre case of 1975. He subsequently received bail in the case. — PTI
