After regaining strength, the crow refuses to part with the children and even follows them to school
The injured crow seems to have found a friend in a child at the house of A. Sujata in Gopalpur.
BERHAMPUR: Crows rarely show signs of domestication, but here is a crow, which seems to form a unique bond with its rescuers, a group of children. In fact, it refuses to part with them and fly away towards its otherwise far away destination, if any. The story of this unique bonding between this bird and children goes like this, about a week back a group of small children, probably in their teens, from NAC colony at Gopalpur, found an injured crow while playing. It was unable to fly as its wings were injured. Out of curiosity and sympathy, the children led by A.Sujata preferred to nurse the injured crow. Initially, they used pain relieving balms and oils, which they brought from their houses. But, when they did not find any recovery in the crow, they took it to the local veterinary hospital for proper treatment. During this period, the crow became a playmate of this group. The children also, fed it rice and whatever they could get from home for the bird. It started recovering fast and its regained flying power. Turns a pall
But, despite several attempts by the children and their parents to send it away, it did not prefer to fly away to its flock. Every time, after a short flight it has been returning to the children. The crow is also following them to their school. Finally, Sujata and her friends Giri Babu, Raju, Tiki have now decided to accept the crow as their friend and planning to build a small makeshift shelter for it.
