Panipat couple commits suicide

Dehradun: A couple from Panipat allegedly committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance at a hotel in Haridwar early on Saturday, police said. Rajesh (28) and Reena (25) checked in the Aarti hotel of the town on Friday, where they allegedly consumed sulphur tablets.

They were rushed to the near by hospital by the hotel staff where they died. In a suicide note the couple had allegedly stated to have taken the extreme step as they feared opposition from their respective families to their affair. The police said the duo had wished to be cremated together in the note. The family members of the couple have been informed about the incident.
