Troubleshooting: Police arresting K. Harish Rao and other MLAs of TRS when they tried to enter the NDSL factory at Bodhan on Saturday.
BODHAN (NIZAMABAD Dt.): Police arrested Telangana Rashtra Samiti MLAs K. Harish Rao, D. Padma Devender Reddy and E. Ravinder Reddy, MLC R. Satyanarayana, Zilla Parishad Chairperson G. Anitha Rajeswar Reddy and a host of party leaders and workers when they tried to proceed to Nizam Deccan Sugars Limited factory in their bid to enter its premises on Saturday evening. They were prevented from proceeding to the factory, bundled into waiting police vans and shifted to town police station where they were released after executing personal bonds. A strong contingent of police force led by Deputy SPs M. Vijay Singh (Bodhan) and J. Hathiram (Armoor) cordoned off the area before taking the legislators into custody. High alert
With the leaders announcing at the public meeting organised by Nizam Sugars Pariraksana Samiti that they would go to the factory to occupy it after the meeting was over, the police were on high alert. They rushed to Ambedkar Centre before the end of the meeting to make arrangements to prevent and shift the legislators and activists. However, balladeer Gaddar and his cultural team escaped from the arrest and left the town in a van, while the TRS leaders were being arrested. Chaotic situation prevailed for a while at the chowarsta as traffic came to a standstill. Meanwhile, the meeting evoked good response and several hundreds of farmers, students, people from the town and nearby villages attended the meeting which lasted four hours at the venue opposite the Government Madhumalancha Junior College. The legislators in their address strongly demanded the Government that the NDSL factory be taken back as the previous TDP Government handed over the factory worth about Rs.700 crores to the private management at a throwaway price. They found fault with the Government for being “inactive” even after the House Committee submitted its report recommending for the factory take over.
