Accused commits suicide in hospital

Thiruvananthapuram: A 23-year-old youth, who was arrested on the charge of abetting the suicide of a minor girl, was found dead hanging in the toilet of a Government hospital in Parassala on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Manikantan. The girl’s neighbours had assaulted him and the police had admitted Manikantan to the hospital. The police had found him hanging from the exhaust fan of the toilet at around 11 a.m. A case of unnatural death has been registered in connection with the incident.

A 21-year-old youth drowned in the River Karamana near Perukavu in Poojappura police station on Saturday. The victim, M. K. Sony, had entered the water to net fish, the police said. A case of unnatural death has been registered.
