JAL to set up four aviation training schools It has signed an MoU for a civil aviation academy
BANGALORE: Foundation stones of an airport in Hassan and a Suvarna Karnataka Vidhana Soudha in Belgaum will be laid on Sunday. The national president of the Janata Dal (Secular) H.D. Deve Gowda, MP, will lay the foundation stone of the airport and Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will participate in the bhoomi puja for the Vidhana Soudha building in Belgaum. Jupiter Aviation and Logistics Private Ltd. (JAL), established in 2005 by Rajya Sabha member Rajeev Chandrashekar, will execute work on the airport. Minister for Public Works H.D. Revanna told presspersons here on Saturday that the commissioning of the airport in Hassan would trigger economic growth and generate employment in the region. JAL has signed a collaboration agreement with France-based ESMA and EADS Services for setting up aviation training schools in four places in the country. The first one is likely to be established at Hassan. It has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Thales and Air Australia for the setting up of a civil aviation academy, which might come up at Hassan, JAL sources said. The passenger capacity of the airport will be 10 million and cargo handling will be two million tonnes by 2030. JAL was committed to investing over Rs. 1,350 crore in the next three years, sources said. Vidhana Soudha
Mr. Revanna said the Suvarna Karnataka Vidhana Soudha in Belgaum would be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 230 crore. A sum of Rs. 70 crore would be released in the current financial year.
