Bangalore: Amul will shortly roll out its sugar-free range of milk products, including ice-creams, chocolates and milk drinks. It is also planning to launch a slew of products containing probiotics such as curds, lassi and milk drinks in a couple of months, Jayan S. Mehta, Assistant Manager (Marketing), Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, said here on Saturday. Probiotics are dietary supplements which are supposed to contain beneficial bacteria and when added to certain foods may have health benefits. Speaking to presspersons to announce the launch of Amul “Kool Koko”, a chocolate milk drink in its beverages segment, Mr. Mehta said that Amul was currently focussing on developing the sugar-free and probiotic products. It was also trying to consolidate its position in the beverages market through the introduction of various milk-based drinks, he added. The newly launched Kool Koko is made from low fat milk and cocoa solids and targeted at teenagers and youth. It is available in 200 ml disposable bottle, a 200 ml tetrapak, a 250 ml can and a one litre tetrapak. Amul would also release advertising campaigns to promote the new product across the country by next week, Mr. Mehta added. Stany Lobo, branch manager of the federation for Karnataka, said that Amul was looking at promoting its exclusive Amul parlours in corporate offices and public places.
