HYDERABAD: Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI) and Institute for Solid Waste Research and Ecological Balance (INSWAREB) will be jointly organising a two-day workshop on capacity building in clean development mechanism (CDM) here on August 30 and 31. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, EPTRI director-general Gayatri Ramachandran said that the workshop was part of the Government’s initiative to create awareness among people and sensitising all concerned on the importance of CDM, its economic dividends. Participants form State Government in South India, industrial houses and representatives of Government of India would attend the workshop. INSWAREB director N. Kalidas said that carbon credits could be redeemed and translated into cash. Finance Minister K. Rosaiah would give away the money earned by selling carbon credits on adopting fly-ash technology in construction to beneficiaries on August 30, he said.
