What is the index number notified for long-term capital gains for transaction during 2007-08.
Board vide Notification No. 214 of 2007 dated August 3, has notified 551 as the index number for transactions during 2007-08, so that the multiplier of the cost of assets acquired on or before April 1, 1981 will be 5.51 times the cost or at the assessee’s option the market value as on that date. For properties acquired after this date, the multiplier will be in proportion to the index number in the year of acquisition to the number in the year of sale.
