‘Functioning of banks no longer mass oriented’

Inaugural address: Regional Manager of Vijaya Bank (Shimoga Region) H.B. Chinnobaiah speaking at a meeting of the All India Vijaya Bank Officers’ Association in Shimoga on Sunday.

SHIMOGA: Treasurer of the All India Vijaya Bank Officers’ Association K. Narayana Shetty said here on Sunday that with the advent of modern changes functioning of banks was no longer mass oriented. Banks had become more class oriented, serving the interests of the rich and influential customers, he said.

Addressing the regional central body meeting of the Shimoga regional unit of the association, he said that efforts were being made by vested interests to destabilise the association but they could not succeed because of its unity and strength.

Mr. Shetty asked the officials to be loyal only to the institution and not to individuals as individuals were likely to mislead them. Mr. Shetty also asked them not to implement the orders from their higher ups if they could not be implemented legally.

Regional manager of the Shimoga region of Vijaya Bank H.B. Chinnobaiah, who inaugurated the conference, said that if the region had been showing an impressive performance in all the parameters of banking it was because of the help and cooperation of the officers and the employees.
