KOZHIKODE: The Malabar Chamber of Commerce (MCC) and Malabar Train Action Committee (MTAC) have welcomed the decision of agitators in Tamil Nadu to withdraw the stir of blocking trains to Kerala demanding formation of Salem division. In a statement here, P. Zakeer, MCC president, and P.V. Gangadharan, chairman of MTAC, congratulated Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan whose interventions helped take “this good decision.” The organisations had earlier sent petitions to the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister, Sonia Gandhi and MPs from Kerala to intervene in the matter. — Staff Reporter
