Puducherry
Special Correspondent
PUDUCHERRY: The Minority Development Organisation in the Union Territory has pleaded with the Government to take necessary steps to reduce traffic congestion in Puducherry. In a statement here, president of the organisation A. Aruldoss, said that the construction of railway over bridges (ROBs) in lieu of level crossings at Arumparthapuram, near the Anglo-French Textile Mills and at Karamanikuppam, would avoid unnecessary delay in the traffic. He also asked the Government to construct flyovers at certain places including the ones near Rajiv Gandhi statue, Indira Gandhi statue and Anna Salai. Peak-hour tension
Construction of the ROBs and flyovers would enable the vehicles to move without any hassles, besides easing the peak-hour tension of the public, particularly the school children, he said.
