Don’t exploit the situation, politicians told


Homage paid to victims at Osmania Hospital’s mortuary

SIO urges people to maintain calm


HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC), Lok Satta Party, Committee of Rules of AP Legislative Council, State Committee of All-India Peace and Solidarity Organisation and Andhra Pradesh Southern Region of Students Islamic Organisation of India have condemned Saturday’s bomb blasts.

S. Sheshaiah, APCLC general secretary, in a statement appealed to politicians not to exploit the blasts to serve their interests and incite communal tensions.

He called for all possible assistance to the victims’ families and the injured, even while seeking strong action against those responsible.

‘Implement reforms’

Jayaprakash Narayan, national coordinator, Lok Satta Party, sought steps to ruthlessly uproot terrorism to protect society. He demanded implementation of police reforms to ensure that the personnel were productively utilised. He visited the injured in city hospitals. The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council’s Committee on Rules, under the leadership of A. Chakrapani, Chairman, conveyed its condolences to the bereaved families.

R. Chenga Reddy, Law Minister, Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, Leader of the Opposition in the Council, Puvvada Nageswara Rao, attended.

K. Prabhakar Rao, general secretary, Andhra Pradesh Peace and Solidarity Organisation, said August 25 would remain a black day in the State’s history.

He called for strong action against those responsible for the blasts.

Activists of AIPSO paid homage to the victims at Osmania Hospital’s mortuary.

Atif Ismail, president of SIO, wanted the Government to initiate steps for maintenance of law and order. He appealed to people to maintain calm.

K. Sridhar, secretary, State Organising Committee of the Socialist Unity Centre of India, K. Ranga Rao, president, State Youth Awardees’ Council, and J. Prabhakar Rao, MLC and president, Mala Mahanadu, also condemned the blasts.
