Golden chariot for Pachamalai temple

ERODE: The Pachamalai Sri Subramaniyaswamy temple at Gobichettipalayam will soon have a golden chariot. The Head of the trustees of Sri Dhandayuthasamy Temple, Palani, S.V. Balasubramaniam, inaugurated the work for the golden chariot at a function at Pachamalai on Friday.

The Head of the trustees of Pachamalai temple P.K. Eswaran and catering contractor R. Prakash said the chariot would be constructed with eight-and-a- half kg of gold, 30 kg of silver, 400 kg of copper and a huge quantity of teak wood. Mr. Prakash gave sizeable quantity of gold and silver on Friday. Those participated in the function also granted gold and cash.

It is stated that totally 180 sovereigns of gold and Rs. 1.60 lakh cash has been collected as donation for the chariot work on that day.

Former Minister K.A. Sengottiyan, MLA, among the devotees and dignitaries from Erode, Gobi and Sathyamangalam took part.

It is stated that the chariot work will be completed in eight months.
