Aravind, Bavithra corner glory

Madurai: P. Aravind Ram of Government Higher Secondary School (Chatrapatti) and M.S. Bavithra of Fusco’s Matriculation HSS, Madurai cornered glory with four gold medals each in the under-17 boys’ and girls events respectively, in the Madurai District swimming meet here on Saturday.

IRRS in final

Idayam Rajendran Residential School (IRRS) and St. Britto HSS entered the final of the annual Jayaraj Chelladurai state-level inter-school basketball tournament at Nagamalai near Madurai on Sunday.

The results (semifinals): IRRS 60 (Madhavan 24, Subaganesh 14) bt ZKM, Bodi 48 (Saravana Kumar 18, Prasath Kumar 12); St. Britto 72 (Tamilvanan 20, Aravind 10, Praveen Kumar 10) bt St. Mary’s, Madurai 65 (Seenivasan 12, Jenifer 1 8).

SBOA Matriculation HSS ‘A’ and TVS MHSS ‘A’ entered the final in the Team championship of the Arivanandapandian Trophy District-level inter-school table tennis tournament at Nagamalai.

Two wins for St. Paul’s

St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Salem registered two wins in the semifinal round robin league of the Athimuthu memorial Trophy State-level inter-school basketball tournament at Tuticorin on Sunday.

Kancheepuram in final

R. Prasannanarayanan scored 120 as Kancheepuram defeated Tiruchi by virtue of its first innings lead and advanced to the final of the TNCA under-15 inter-district cricket tournament here on Sunday.

The scores: semifinal: Tiruchi 166 drew with Kancheepuram 369 for nine in 120 overs (R. Prasannanarayanan 120, S. Chandrasekar 58, T. Sathish 55, P.S. Nirmal Kumar four for 110).

Sundara triumphs

S. Sundara Bharathi and S. Deepika both from RSK HSS won the individual title in the under-17 boys’ and girls’ sections respectively at the Tiruchi Sahodaya Schools athletic meet, organised by the Kamala Niketan Montessori School, here on Saturday.
