Two ‘criminals’ arrested

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Two criminals were arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police this past week.

Acting on a tip-off that Jagmohan, who was involved in cases of murder, attempt-to-murder, forgery and vehicle theft, would pass by Uttam Nagar, a team under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravi Shanker laid a trap and arrested the accused on Saturday. During interrogation, Jagmohan purportedly confessed to his involvement in 15 criminal cases and in nine of these he had been declared proclaimed offender by the respective courts. According to the police, the accused along with two of his accomplices committed a robbery at Derawal Nagar here on July 2. Jagmohan was earlier arrested by the Crime Branch in 2003.In another case, the Special Cell arrested Omkar, an accused in cases of dacoity, murder and kidnapping, at Anand Vihar on Friday. During interrogation, he purportedly disclosed that he was first arrested in 1993 for his involvement in a murder-cum-robbery at Badayun in U.P. He was convicted for life imprisonment in that case. However, he managed to get out on bail and vanished from the scene. In 2001, he along with his accomplices allegedly kidnapped a boy and released him after receiving the ransom.
