CPI (M) for judicial probe into Aganampudi land deals

Farmers allege involvement of Minister

Farmers were coerced by brokers to sign blank papers: CPI (M)

They were promised Rs 90,000 per acre but were paid only Rs 70,000

VISAKHAPATNAM: The district unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist) came down heavily on Minister for Marketing Botsa Satyanarayana for denying his involvement in the buying of land at Aganampudi by threatening the farmers and demanded a judicial probe into the land deals transacted in the area in the backdrop of the proposed car factory by German automobile major Volkswagen AG.

Reacting to Mr. Satyanarayana’s claim that the land shown by the Communists as having bought by him was actually purchased by Goderu Annapurna and D. Rani of Guntur, CPI (M) district secretary Ch. Narsinga Rao told reporters on Sunday that his claim was totally false.

The farmers whose lands were taken by brokers deployed by the Minister before Volkswagen announced dropping of the car project near Vizag had complained to the police on the involvement of Mr. Satyanarayana.

Registrations

Mr. Rao said though the two pieces of land extended up to 12 and half acres, Mr. Satyanarayana wanted to take possession of a tank in the area so as to take grab nearly 50 acres.

Releasing a copy of registrations done in the area in Survey Numbers 163 to 169 during 1991-2007 from the office of sub-registrar, Sabbavaram, he said the two names referred by the Minister had not found any place in the particulars provided by the sub-registrar’s office.

The CPI (M) leader said the farmers, who were cultivating the land for several decades, were coerced by brokers Zamindar Bhaskar and Dulla Rama Naidu and to sign in blank papers.

The farmers were promised Rs.90,000 per acre by the Minister but the brokers retained Rs.20,000 towards their ‘commission’ and paid them only Rs.70,000 per acre.

Mr. Rao said they were ready to provide more information if a judicial probe was ordered into the land deal and urged the police to immediately book a criminal case against the two brokers and arrest them. CPI (M) city secretary K. Loknadham was present.
