NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India have condemned Saturday’s twin bomb blasts in Hyderabad that took 40 lives and urged the government to bring the culprits to book. Noting that the city had witnessed a bomb attack in a mosque recently, the CPI(M) Polit Bureau on Sunday urged the government and security agencies to identify and take pre-emptive steps to suppress such elements. “The horrific attack underlines how certain terrorists groups are working to disrupt normal life and communal harmony. The culprits responsible for this outrage must be brought to book.” Stand united
Extending its sympathy to the families of those killed and injured, the Polit Bureau expressed confidence that the people of Hyderabad and the rest of the country would stand united against such nefarious and inhuman violence. In a separate statement here, the CPI appealed to the government to take steps to attend to the wounded and the suffering families of victims and to leave no stone unturned to book the perpetrators of the crime. It noted that the incident, coming as it did on the heels of the blast in Mecca Masjid in the city, showed that terrorists always chose a spot where common citizens congregated. It said: “It is a matter of satisfaction that people have not panicked and have not given the incident a communal twist, which is what the terrorists intended.”
